Eli Davenport thinks he’s found the perfect woman to be his wife. She’s a doctor, like he is. She’s brilliant, like he is. And she’s wealthy, like he is.
Guinevere ‘Gwen’ Poe thinks her fiance is the perfect man. He’s handsome, successful and he was her first…
But when Eli’s bride runs off with Gwen’s fiance on his wedding day, they are left to pick up the broken pieces of each other…
“I want to talk about you and me, and this thing between us.”
so your with your fiance at a friends wedding. just as the bride and groom start to say their vows, your fiance stands up and begs the bride to choose him instead. yeah. that’s what happens to Gwen.
After that awful day Eli can’t seem to escape Gwen. he wants nothing more than to avoid the reminders she bring of that awful day. the day his almost wife ran off with another man.
Now I’ll start by saying Eli is a jerk. now being as British as they come that’s not a word I use, EVER! it’s pretty easy to see through his crap to the hurt he is feeling, but he comes out with some stuff that had me scowling at him.
Gwen is absolute breathe of fresh air. She is the polar opposite of the woman Eli was supposed to be with. She is a free spirited artist. she a little bit awkward and clumsy as heck, but so damn adorable!
despite the shaky start these two have, they quickly become close friends. Some of the banter they have had me laughing out loud. Their dialogue is witty and certainly kept me wanting more from them.
when their relationship takes a turn to the romantic side things soon start to heat up. for a reserved Dr, Eli is definitely not shy in the bedroom! *fans self*
Add to their story a whole host of background characters that you can’t help but get attached to and you’ve got a truly fantastic story.
tons of emotion and a storyline that had me thinking of Eli & Gwen even when I was forced to put the kindle down.
Now where can I start a petition to get this made into a movie? cos the whole time I was reading I could see these characters on the big screen.
